NORTHEAST LITERATURE: KEY FOCUS OF SOUTH INDIA GLOBAL WRITERS MEET

Webdesk, TNI Guwahati, 23rd July, 2015: Kerala State Youth Welfare Board has organized the third edition of the three-day ‘South India Writers’ Ensemble’ (SIWE) in association with ‘People for Performing Arts and More’ (PAMPA). The literary meet is all set to start today in Chengannur, Kerala. Literature of the northeast is the focus of this year’s ensemble, which will see the presence of writers like Mitra Phukan, Dhruba Hazarika, Jahnavi Barua besides American novelist George Bishop and Malayalam author Benyamin among others. Today the festival will have a session “Guns and Guitars: Literature, Revolt and the Question of Identity” featuring writers from the northeast Jahnavi Barua, Mitra Phukan, and Dhruba Hazarika. This is the first time when literature of northeast is being the focus of SIWE. Besides, there will be talks, readings, interactions, literary workshops and cultural programs.
